Dear Friends:
As we prepare to begin another drive to fund the Peter T. Assimack scholarship fund, I want to first thank each of you for your support in the past years. Hard to believe that this scholarship fund has been on-going for what will be the 15th year. It has been a great success due to the contributions of people like yourself and the annual Peter T. Assimack Memorial Fishing Tournament. All proceeds from contributions and the annual fishing tournament go directly to the scholarship fund and are utilized strictly for assisting Tarpon High School graduates further their education.
Since the inception of the scholarship fund, 31 scholarships have been awarded to some very deserving youth in the community. We are sure Peter would be proud of the continued support of our area’s youth through the organizations memorializing his name. Funds awarded to deserving students are paid directly to their perspective schools to cover costs associated with attending school. Students awarded the scholarship fund are required to submit grades for entitlement of the second half of funds awarded.
The past years success from contributions and the annual fishing tournament usually in April of each year have provided support enabling three to six scholarships awarded each year, at the Tarpon Springs Senior Awards ceremony, usually in late May.
It is the hope of all the many volunteers that support and organize the annual fishing tournament and the directors of the Peter T. Assimack Memorial Fishing Tournament that the scholarship fund will continue far into the future. It is with this plan in mind that we ask you for contributions.
If you would like to make a donation, please make checks payable to the Peter T. Assimack Memorial Scholarship Fund.
