| | Peter was born and raised in Tarpon Springs and graduated from Tarpon High in 1979. He played Football for the Spongers, but what he loved most was fishing. He later graduated from The University of Florida and than received his CPA license. He was a partner in the Stone, Parker and Assimack Accounting Firm. The Firm had a base office in New Port Richey, and later Peter opened a branch here in Tarpon. Often Times you could see Peter’s boat attached to his truck in front of his office as he either went fishing before work or after, Most likely both. He would often take his niece and nephews or just about anyone that wanted to go young or old. If you got a call from peter to go fishing you had better be ready to go and stay late. One saying of his, among many, was the best time to go fishing was to go early, stay late and go often. |
| | President of the Chamber of Commerce, Rotarian, FCA, and many more charitable associations. Peter was very involved in the community being on the board of the Greek Church, Peter was always the first to volunteer to cook ribs or chicken for any function that came along, as many people still try to copy his bar-b-queue sauce. He never asked for money only thing he wanted was to be able to play Jimmy Buffet songs while he cooked. Many times he would cook all night for a big party and as soon as he would get done and all were fed he would get in his boat and go fishing with anyone that was still awake. | |
| | Peter died on August 21, 1996 of Cancer, just 10 days before his 35th birthday. Living with cancer for over a year, he would still take time to fish and always took the time to talk to young people about fishing. Most Fishermen had secret spots and told no one, Peter would not only tell you where he caught his but he would take you to the spot and show you how to best catch them. In the last few days he had his friends take him out on the water and even though he was too tired to fish he just wanted to watch you fish and be on the water. |
